PALLADIUM THEATER BUILDING

Birmingham, Michigan

client: The Palladium Company

size:   140,000 square feet

The Palladium Theater is a mixed-use retail and entertainment development in fashionable downtown Birmingham, Michigan.

The 140,000 square-foot building provides Main Street and lower level retail, plus two full upper floors and two mezzanines for a 12-screen cinema complex with a seating capacity of 2,200. Cinema patrons enter from the street and ascend by escalators to upper lobby floors. The building’s architecture respects its urban neighbors by careful selection of scale, materials and colors. Full height windows in each cinema lobby provide the theatre-goer with balcony-type views to the street below. Precast stone facades, clay tile roofs, and custom detailed windows and awnings are designed to be contextual with adjacent urban properties, while presenting a contemporary new civic landmark to the city.

The scope of services included complete design, construction document and construction administration services for the building shell and 12-plex cinema.
