ARCHITECT OF RECORD

JPRA Architects

The owners of this award-winning vineyard overlooking Grand Traverse Bay collaborated with JPRA Architects on this idyllic design for a wine tasting facility. The wine barn was carefully designed to complement the site, featuring serene rolling hills, 20 acres of grapes, and a spectacular view. Appropriate scale and position within the vineyard was sacred to the owners. The vintners asked the architects to listen to the vineyard and let it guide them in designing a wine tasting facility to complement it in scale and position. The result is a comfortable, but sophisticated wine barn that harmonizes with the vineyard, complementing the site as a modern interpretation of a Leelanau Peninsula farmhouse. The owners believe the building captures the elegance and romance of the wine-growing lifestyle, treading lightly upon the land.

The tasting room features a bar, cozy sitting area and hearth, retail area, and access to the covered outdoor terrace that has become a popular wedding venue, as well. The 1,200-square-foot tasting facility also features a 300-square-foot private event room.
